Windows, Doors & Glass in the Galleria and Uptown, Houston
High-rises, Tanglewood ranches and Post Oak townhomes: three building types, one installer, and a noise and access problem unique to Uptown.
What Makes Galleria Different
The Galleria is a skyline, a mall and a ring of neighborhoods that do not behave like each other. High-rise condos along Post Oak, 1960s Tanglewood ranches a few blocks west, and townhomes on the San Felipe corridor all share a zip-code prefix and almost nothing else in the glazing spec.
High-rise work here is an access and building-management problem first. Units come up a freight elevator or a hoist, work happens on the building's clock, and the glass often has to be acoustic laminated because Loop 610 and Post Oak are not distant. A balcony slider that looks like a residential patio door is, in practice, closer to a light commercial unit. We quote it that way.
Tanglewood is the other half of this page and a completely different job. Low-slung 1960s and 70s ranches on large lots, original aluminum with no thermal break, and west heat that has been cooking those rooms for fifty years. Whole-house replacement is common; sunrooms and rear glass walls are the upsell when the lot and the trees allow it. Tanglewood civic association cares about street elevations in a way a high-rise HOA does not.
Afton Oaks and Highland Village sit between those two poles: inner-loop residential with Uptown traffic at the edge. Privacy glass, acoustic laminated on the street face, and a nicer aluminum system on the garden side is a typical split spec, and it is cheaper than upgrading every opening to the same glass.
If the project is River Oaks proper, use the River Oaks page -- the review culture and the historic stock are different. This page is Uptown: Post Oak, the Galleria, Tanglewood and the streets that hear the freeway.
Architectural Aluminum, Custom Sizes and Finishes

Minimal Sliding Doors
Thermally broken 6063-T5 aluminum with German hardware. The slimmest sightlines and the largest panels we build -- the default for a Galleria elevation that has to look as expensive as the house.

Folding & Lift-and-Slide
Walls of glass that actually open. Made to the drawing, not picked from a catalog -- which is why this work lands with a manufacturer.

Custom Replacement
When the brief is every opening, we will still tell you where premium aluminum is worth it and where vinyl is the better spend.

Galleria Questions
Do you replace windows in Galleria-area high-rises?
Yes, through the building. Freight, hoist, working hours and debris rules have to be in the quote. A number that ignores those is not a real number.
Is Tanglewood on this page or on Memorial?
Tanglewood sits with the Galleria / Uptown page because the access, the noise and the civic association are Uptown problems. Memorial is the Villages further west, under a different canopy and a different drawing set.
Will acoustic glass help with Loop 610?
On openings that face the feeder, yes, and noticeably. It will not erase the freeway. We specify it where it earns the cost and skip it where it does not.
