How is this built, and why does it matter?
Minimal sliding doors are the product Houston architects ask for when the brief is a near-frameless wall of glass that still has to open. The sightlines are the thinnest we manufacture. Panels stack and slide rather than swing, so a twenty-foot rear elevation can disappear into a pocket or a stacking bay without eating the room on either side.
That is a different job from a standard patio slider. A production sliding door is built around a catalog panel size and a frame thick enough to hide the hardware. A minimal system is built around the opening: custom panel widths, a thermally broken 6063-T5 extrusion, and German hardware specified so a large pane still glides with two fingers in August humidity. If you can see a chunky mullion from the garden, it is not this product.
The Houston climate is why the thermal break is not optional. Bare aluminum conducts heat so well that a west-facing metal frame can scald a hand in summer and weep condensation in a cold snap. Breaking the extrusion stops that path. Combined with a high-performance glass package, a minimal slider is a comfort product as much as it is a design product, which is why we will not spec one without talking through orientation, shading and glass.
We manufacture these doors in Houston and install them with our own crews, mostly on inner-loop and luxury-suburb projects: Memorial Villages, River Oaks, the Galleria, The Woodlands, and new construction inside the loop. If the opening is conventional and the budget is mid-tier, a standard aluminum sliding door or our vinyl slider is usually the better spend. If the elevation has to look like glass with a pencil line around it, this is the door.

Why does this survive Houston weather?
We build these to handle August west-facing solar gain, Galveston salt, and the shifting Katy clay that racks cheap frames.
Sightlines, not frames
The thinnest aluminum profiles we build, so the glass is what you see from the garden and from the sofa.
Custom panel sizes
Made to the opening, including stacked and pocketing configurations that a catalog slider cannot do.
Built for Texas heat
Thermally broken 6063-T5 frames and specified glass, not a pretty European system dropped into a Houston west wall.
One company, factory to flashing
We manufacture it and we install it. A binding, a drain or a track issue lands on the same desk.
When to buy this, and when to downgrade
If you are not on this list, there is probably a better product in the line, and we will say so rather than force this one onto the opening. If a room is perfectly shaded, do not buy full premium aluminum.
- Architects and designers specifying a wall of glass on a Houston new build or major remodel
- Luxury homeowners in Memorial, River Oaks, the Galleria and The Woodlands replacing a heavy slider that fights the architecture
- Patio-to-room conversions where the rear wall has to disappear, not just open
- Anyone comparing quotes who has been shown a standard slider and suspects the sightlines will not match the drawings

Questions about Minimal Sliding Doors
What is the difference between minimal sliding doors and regular sliding doors?
Sightlines and how the opening is engineered. A standard aluminum slider is a strong, everyday large-panel door with a visible frame. A minimal slider is specified so the frame almost disappears, thinner profiles, larger glass, and hardware chosen for that look. It costs more because it is a different product, not a trim package on the same door.
Do aluminum minimal sliding doors work in Houston heat?
Yes, if the frame is thermally broken and the glass is specified for the elevation. Ours are thermally broken 6063-T5. A west-facing wall of glass still needs the right Low-E and, often, exterior shading. We will tell you when the orientation fights the design rather than selling you a prettier overheating problem.
Can I get a quote on minimal sliding doors for a specific opening?
That is the only way we quote them. Send photos, a drawing or the address. We measure, confirm whether a minimal system is actually the right call versus a standard slider or a lift & slide, and put a number on that opening.
Where do you install minimal sliding glass doors in Houston?
Anywhere in our footprint, but the work concentrates in inner-loop Houston, Memorial, River Oaks, the Galleria and The Woodlands, houses where the rear elevation is the architecture. We also build them into sunroom and glass wall conversions in Katy and Sugar Land when the opening is large enough to justify the spec.
