The Enclosure Is the Part You Touch Every Day
A bathroom remodel is usually judged on the tile, but the shower enclosure is the element you physically handle every morning. A door that drags, a seal that leaks onto the floor, or spotted glass that will not come clean undoes the rest of the room.
Because we fabricate glass in-house for our window and door systems, shower glass runs through the same measuring discipline and the same install crews. There is no third-party glazier in the middle, which is why this is one of the quickest projects we take on and one of the most common reasons clients call us back for the rest of the house.
Mid-renovation homeowners frequently ask about two things at once: the shower and opening up the back of the house. If that is you, look at glass wall conversions as well it is the same trade and the same crew.
Shower Glass Questions
How much does a custom shower enclosure cost?
It comes down to glass thickness, how much of the enclosure is frameless, the hardware finish and how square the opening actually is. A sliding bypass door over a tub and a fully frameless walk-in with a header-free corner are very different jobs.
Frameless or semi-frameless, which should I choose?
Frameless looks cleaner and shows off tile work, and it costs more because the glass is heavier and the tolerances are tighter. Semi-frameless and framed enclosures are more forgiving on out-of-square openings, give you more hardware-finish options and cost less. If your bathroom is a remodel in an older home, the framed and semi-frameless options are often the more sensible engineering answer.
How long does it take?
Shower glass is one of our faster projects. There is no permitting involved in a straight enclosure replacement, so the timeline is driven by measuring, fabrication and one install visit.
Can you match my existing fixtures?
Yes. Hardware comes in matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome and satin brass among others, so the enclosure can match what is already in the room.
Do you offer coated glass?
Protective coatings that resist water spotting and mildew staining are available. They are worth asking about in Houston, where hard water leaves visible mineral deposits on untreated glass quickly.
