How Shower Glass Changes a Houston Bathroom Remodel
A bathroom remodel in Houston is usually decided by water, light and how much frame you can see. Shower glass is the piece that makes or breaks all three.

When I was seventeen, I rebuilt engines in Houston mechanic shops. I learned how mechanical systems work, why they fail, and how tight the tolerances need to be. I look at shower glass the exact same way. It is a mechanical system of heavy glass and moving metal. If the tolerances are wrong, it fails.
Why does your shower hardware rust after only one year?
Most remodels in Houston start with a complaint about water escaping a tub. Shower glass fixes this, but only if it is engineered for the Gulf Coast moisture. Hinges, clamps, and sliding tracks sit in steam every single day. Cheap hardware rusts in this humidity. We specify finishes that hold up, and we do not hide soft metal behind a pretty coating.
Is your bathroom framing actually straight enough for frameless glass?
Frameless glass is the most common request we get. It uses thicker tempered glass and heavy clamps instead of a metal surround. But I will tell you when not to buy it. If your walls are severely out of plumb or your framing has shifted with the Houston clay, do not buy a frameless enclosure. It will never seal right. Fix the framing first, or buy a tub slider instead. I would rather lose the frameless sale than install glass that leaks every time you shower.
When is the right time to measure the opening?
Shower glass changes how a remodel is sequenced. We measure after the tile and receptor are completely installed. A quarter of an inch of lip makes the difference between a panel that seals and a panel that drips. We fabricate locally, so a custom width does not mean waiting on a factory in another state.
See the shower glass page for options. Send a photo of the opening, and I will diagnose which enclosure your room can actually take.
Questions from this guide
Do I need frameless shower glass?
Only if your opening is perfectly square and plumb. Tub sliders and semi-frameless enclosures are the better choice if your walls are uneven.
When should shower glass be measured?
Measure after the tile and the tub are completely installed. Measuring off a blueprint is a guaranteed way to order the wrong size.
