How is this built, and why does it matter?
Folding doors, bifolds, in the language most Houston homeowners use are how you make a room and a patio into one space. Panels fold and stack to the side so the opening is actually clear, not a two-panel slider with half the wall still in the way. When people say they want to “open the back of the house,” this is usually the product they mean.
We manufacture thermally broken aluminum folding systems rather than importing a catalog bifold and hoping the opening matches. Panel count, stack direction and whether the system is outswing or configured for your header are decisions we make against the existing structure. A Katy covered patio conversion and a Memorial new-build kitchen wall are not the same engineering problem.
The tradeoff versus a sliding door is real and we will say it out loud. Folding gives you the clear opening; sliding is simpler day to day and usually costs less. Folding also needs somewhere for the stack to live, and a Houston screened porch with furniture already against both jambs is not always a folding door house. That is a site conversation, not a brochure conversation.
These doors show up constantly in our sunroom and glass enclosure work, especially glass wall conversions in Katy and Sugar Land where a solid exterior wall comes out and a foldable glass wall goes in. They are also the door clients mention in reviews when the house suddenly gets used differently, more dinners outside, more of the yard treated as a room.

3-Panel and 4-Panel Folding Doors, Including 12-Foot Openings
A 3-panel or 4-panel bifold is how many Houston kitchens and covered patios are drawn. A 12-foot folding wall is a common width. We manufacture the panel count and the stack direction to the header and the furniture layout. We do not keep a separate URL for each inch size. If folding has nowhere to stack, we will send you to sliding or lift and slide.
Why does this survive Houston weather?
We build these to handle August west-facing solar gain, Galveston salt, and the shifting Katy clay that racks cheap frames.
A truly clear opening
Panels stack away. The difference between “open the slider” and “the wall is gone.”
Built to the opening
Panel count and stack direction set from your header, slab and furniture layout, not from a catalog SKU.
Sunrooms and conversions
The door we spec most often when a covered patio becomes a room you use year round.
Hardware that gets used
Folding systems fail when the hardware is a weak point. We specify for Houston humidity and daily entertaining, not showroom cycles.
When to buy this, and when to downgrade
If you are not on this list, there is probably a better product in the line, and we will say so rather than force this one onto the opening. If a room is perfectly shaded, do not buy full premium aluminum.
- Homeowners converting a covered patio in Katy, Sugar Land or Spring into a room that opens to the yard
- Anyone who entertains and is tired of a slider that only clears half the wall
- Designers specifying bifold patio doors on a Houston kitchen or living rear elevation
- Clients comparing folding vs sliding who want the actual tradeoff, not a pitch for the more expensive option

Questions about Folding Doors
Folding doors or sliding doors for a Houston patio?
Folding if you want the opening fully clear for entertaining or a sunroom. Sliding if daily convenience and cost matter more than stacking the wall away. We install both and we will recommend sliding when folding is theater the house does not need.
How wide can aluminum folding doors go?
Wide. The live product copy we inherited talked about openings up to 48 feet in the right configuration. What your house can take depends on the header, the stack space and the slab. We will not sell a width the structure cannot carry we will tell you the maximum that is honest for that opening.
Do you build 12 foot 3-panel or 4-panel folding doors?
Yes. 3-panel and 4-panel bifolds, including 12-foot openings, are ordinary custom work. Panel count follows the opening and the stack space, not a Wix product URL. We quote after a measure. We do not publish a stock size price.
Do folding patio doors work with Houston screens and bugs?
Yes, with the screening designed in rather than taped on later. A folding wall that cannot be screened is a three-month-a-year door in this climate. Ask us about the screen strategy at quote stage, not after install.
