How is this built, and why does it matter?
Vinyl French patio doors are how a traditional Houston house keeps the double-door look without committing to wood maintenance or premium aluminum stiles. Two leaves, lots of glass, a frame that insulates. On a Sugar Land breakfast room or a Katy garden terrace that is a doorway rather than a wall, this is often the right door.
They will not have the narrow sightlines of our aluminum French doors. That is the trade. What they have is thermal performance, a mid-tier price, and a finish that does not need painting after every few Houston summers. For a whole-house vinyl replacement, matching French doors on the small patio and sliders on the big one is a package that looks like one decision.
Swing clearance still rules. If the table, the island or the screen door fights the leaf, we will quote a vinyl slider instead and explain why. Inswing versus outswing, and whether one leaf stays fixed for daily use, are the details that make French doors pleasant rather than ceremonial.
Wood-to-vinyl replacement is a common call in older Houston and Fort Bend homes: swollen sills, failed insulated glass, locks that no longer meet. We measure the existing opening and tell you whether a same-size vinyl French door is honest, or whether the frame has moved enough that the job is bigger.
Same product type in our other manufactured tier: Aluminum French Patio Doors.

Why does this survive Houston weather?
We build these to handle August west-facing solar gain, Galveston salt, and the shifting Katy clay that racks cheap frames.
Traditional door, modern frame
The look HOAs and older streets expect, without a wood door's upkeep.
Insulation first
Vinyl is the thermal mid-tier. A leaky wood French door is usually a comfort problem before it is a style problem.
Matches a vinyl window package
One material around the house, including the patio door.
Replacement into existing openings
Most of these jobs are not new construction. We price the retrofit.

When to buy this, and when to downgrade
If you are not on this list, there is probably a better product in the line, and we will say so rather than force this one onto the opening. If a room is perfectly shaded, do not buy full premium aluminum.

Questions about French Patio Doors
Vinyl or aluminum French patio doors?
Vinyl for a conventional opening on a house that is otherwise vinyl, or where price and insulation lead. Aluminum when the stiles have to be slim or the rest of the elevation is thermally broken metal.
Can vinyl French doors open both ways?
We spec inswing or outswing from the room, not as a party trick. Dual-swing hardware is a different product. Tell us how you use the opening.
Will they look cheap next to brick?
A well-proportioned vinyl French door on a standard opening looks like a current patio door. A thick frame forced onto a wide, low opening looks cheap, and that is when we recommend aluminum or a slider instead.
