How is this built, and why does it matter?
Lift and slide windows are the less common sibling of the lift and slide door, and they exist for the same reason: the glass is too large and too heavy for ordinary operable hardware. A casement on a pane that size becomes a sail. A slider on a pane that size drags and seals poorly. Lifting the sash onto rollers, gliding it, then lowering it onto seals is how an oversized window stays operable.
Houston modern bedrooms and pool rooms are where we see the brief. A wall of glass that the client wants to open to a balcony or a screened porch, drawn at a size that would be a door on a traditional house. We manufacture the window in the same thermally broken 6063-T5 system as the doors, so the hardware language matches across the elevation.
Most houses do not need this product. That is worth saying on a product page. If a standard casement or sliding window will carry the opening, buy that. Lift-and-slide windows are for the openings that would otherwise be forced into a fixed pane, or forced into a door that does not belong on that wall.
If the opening is at floor level and people will walk through it, it is a lift and slide door, not a window. If it does not need to open, it is a fixed window. We would rather rename the product on the quote than sell window hardware on a door opening.

Why does this survive Houston weather?
We build these to handle August west-facing solar gain, Galveston salt, and the shifting Katy clay that racks cheap frames.
Operable glass at door scale
For panes a casement cannot honestly carry.
The same hardware family as the doors
Lift, glide, seal. The elevation reads as one system.
Custom to the drawing
Not a catalog window forced into an architect's opening.
We will talk you out of it
If a casement or a fixed pane is the right product, that is what we quote.
When to buy this, and when to downgrade
If you are not on this list, there is probably a better product in the line, and we will say so rather than force this one onto the opening. If a room is perfectly shaded, do not buy full premium aluminum.
- Architects with an oversized operable window on a Houston modern elevation
- Bedrooms and pool rooms that want a wall of glass to move
- Clients who were told the pane has to be fixed and do not accept that
- Projects already using lift-and-slide doors that want the windows to match

Questions about Lift & Slide Windows
When do I need a lift and slide window instead of a casement?
When the pane is so large that a hinged sash would be too heavy, too wind-loaded, or would swing into a space you do not have. Below that size, buy a casement.
Is this just a small lift and slide door?
Same hardware idea, different job. A door has a threshold people walk through. A window sits in a wall. If you will walk through it, specify the door.
Can lift and slide windows take impact glass?
As part of a specified assembly, yes. Large operable coastal glass is exactly the kind of opening that has to be engineered, not guessed. Address first, then glass package.
